Day 20 - From Leon to San Martin del Camino

So far we have limped along over 450 Kms. Don't believe the Brierley guidebook as it gives GPS (approximate) distances, not actual distances including the ups and downs.

As we left Leon, we were greeted by our Australian friend who had treated himself and colleagues to a night in the Parador San Marcos in Leon. We treated ourselves to a tour of the lobby.

Pat was feeling out of sorts so we stopped at a little cafe for coffees and the WC.

It was hot and shadeless as we  walked westward following the irrigation canals beside the N 120. We  opted for the highway route to avoid an additional 5 kilometres. Little did we know that this was a main transport shipping route.  It was very loud, stinky and hot!

We stopped at the first restaurant Avenida II and had warmed frozen pizza and beer, lunch delicacies.

We opted to walk an additional 6 kilometres to a town offering more alberge choices. We continued on to the second alberge, Santa Ana in San Martin del Camino. The Hospitalera offered us a private room with two beds, NO BUNKS. We agreed to splurge. It cost exactly the same as we had been paying, 10 euros each!  But there are always surprises. Alas, our showers were ice cold and the bathroom had no light. Interesting how you can be happy and satisfied with just a bed!
